Who/What Is ChatHome Toastmasters?
ChatHome members and guests at August 2001 meeting
Who are we? We're a young community Toastmasters club--successful and enthusiastic. We meet in Menlo Park, CA (San Mateo County peninsula section of San Francisco Bay Area). We're a "local" club of Toastmasters International, but members have previously lived on four continents in over 12 different countries.
Toastmasters Club Mission
Provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
Our club could also be named "Toastmasters in Transition". When our host company, Excite@Home, went bankrupt, over half of our membership suddenly found themselves unemployed. Undaunted, we quickly re-located to PeninsulaWorks, a nearby job search facility. In 2002, we combined our skills and current needs into a special career communication workshop series--"Talk Yourself Into a Job"
In 2001 ChatHome earned Toastmasters' Distinguished Club Award. The following year we received the President's Distinguished Club--Toastmasters highest club award. ChatHome members modestly feel that we have one of the best Toastmasters clubs around. We also have one of the best web sites. In 2002, we won the Platinum Page Award for best club site in the Bay Area.
Please explore our site and come visit Menlo Park Toastmasters meetings any Wednesday from 7:30-8:30pm at 1177 University Drive, Room C12, Menlo Park. .
