GrandMother : Lola Francis
Great GrandFather : Will Jackson
Great GrandMother : Fannie Watkins
It is not know what Indian Heritage my Grandmother ( Lola ) comes from nor if it came from her Mother or Father or even both. Lola was born to Will and Fannie in Ashport, TN on September 11, 1932. From what she was told, Fannie died shortly after Lola's birth from phnemonia and Lola was then given over to Foster Care by her Father. She says there were 4 other siblings as well, but knows nothing about them. She was taken in by Mary Naylor ( her Foster Mother) and lived with her untill she left home in her teen years. She married once and divorced and then Married my Grandfather, Andrew Jackson King Sr. From there they had 5 children, my Father being the oldest. He then married my Mother and they had me in 1973.
I found these on the Index to the Applications Submitted for the Eastern Cherokee Roll of 1909 (Guion Miller Roll) today !!!
This one has Fannie Watkins listed along with a hand written insert adding what looks like one more number. There is a "W.J." Watkins listed in the inset that might be for Will Jr. ! That could be one of the 4 other kids Maw Maw King mentioned ! I am going to send off for more information on this entry to see what it says.
This one has several W. and William's listed.One of them could perhaps be the Will Jackson I am looking for! I am sending off for more information on them as well.
