Summary:
The Red Elves entered a secret alliance with the Old Order. The deal was that the Red Elves would give magical items to the Old Order in return for some "controllable" monsters the Old Order had created. Specialized devices were designed to be worn on collars or vests by the monsters that would allow someone with a "controller" gem to order the beasts around. Three hundred creatures --  equally divided among barghests, lyken and trassils -- were sent to the Red Elves and the elves immediately set to work to fullfill their end of the bargain.

The Grey Elves unconvered the plot and reported it to the New Order. The thought of such an alliance was troublesome, as it implied that the Old Order was planning to use these magical items against the New Order. For example, an elf-made Fire Gem could cancel out a Fire Wizard's magic in a certain area. The Old Order having such power was not acceptable.

A small group of magic-users were sent by the New Order to investigate these claims. Essentially, they were meant to be scouts and nothing more. Early on, they encountered trouble from some rogue elves. The rogues were dealt with and the team rescued a White Elf, Talaya, that the rogues had captured.

The Grey Elf the team was using as a guide, Shid, turned tratior and ratted the team's position out to the Reds. The team then narrowly escaped a sneak attack against their camp site by the Red Elves. In the attack, two team members were seriously wounded but lived. In a desperate attempt to escape, the team blindly teleported away -- and ended up about thirty meters in the air some kilometers away.

The humans fell, literally, on a White Elf encampment. The White and Red Elves were at war, and this White Elf group was Talaya's old unit. The Whites were moving on the Red's nearest city, the one producing the weapons to give to the Old Order. With Talaya's help, the New Order team quickly earned the Whites' trust.

The White Elf army and the small group of New Order magic-users jointly attacked the Red Elf city the next day. The Reds deployed all of the monsters the Old Order had given them, which removed any doubt if the alliance was real or not. After considerable damage to both the city and the surrounding forest, the Whites and humans managed to win.

The team's leader, Ima, was later appointed as the New Order's first-ever ambassador to the White Elves. Shortly after, the Red Elves and Old Order declared war on the New Order....
