Willis
Franklin Evans and Myrtle Ethel Biesecker
Willis Franklin Evans the son of Willis
Franklin Evans Sr. and Mary Emma Winters
was born June 26,1891 in Blue Hill, Nebraska. He died October 21, 1966
and was buried Oct. 24, 1966 in Maple Grove Cemetery in Farmer City, Il.
Myrtle Ethel Biesecker the daughter of Joseph
Biesecker and Ella Mae Furnish was born
November 16, 1894 in Lodge, Il. She died November 17, 1966 and was
buried Nov. 19, 1966 in Maple Grove Cemetery Farmer City, Il.
Myrtle’s father died when she was about 3 years old. Her mother
remarried, but Myrtle was not adopted. She had one half brother.
Willis Jr. "Frank" came from Blue Hill, Nebraska to
Illinois in 1895. He was 4 years old at the time. They traveled in
a covered wagon. During the trip Willis fell out of the wagon and his
sister Lona had to stop the wagon that she was driving and go back
for him.
At the time of his death Myrtle was very ill with congestive heart
failure and was not expected to live; however, she had started to
improve and then developed pneumonia after the death of Willis and
died.
Willis was sitting in his front room with his son Delmar, got up from
his chair and went to the front door. When he opened the door no one was
there. His son asked him what he was doing and Willis said, "
Didn’t you hear them knocking. It sounded like they were going to
knock the door down." Delmar had not heard anyone knocking on the
door. Shortly after that incident Willis suffered a cerebral hemorrhage
and died. (told by Delmar after his dad's death. In 2004 Delmar did not
remember saying it but his wife Wilma and Annette Evans remembered
Delmar telling the story.
Willis and Myrtle were very nice, warm people who always made you
feel at home when you visited them. Willis liked to ask you if you
wanted to have a coke with him. He just forgot to tell you that he
always put a nice healthy shot of whiskey in the coke.
He would always pat Myrtle on the butt and she would get all
flustered, swat at his hand, and tell him "stop that."
