History of the Morris Chapter
-written by co-founders Cal & Jan Bumgardner

"We took our daughter to Special Touch camp and conferences and learned more about eh ministries that make up Special Touch. We met with a care group of interested parents, caregivers, and pastors followed by a public informational meeting. We started with meetings at a local restaurant, conference hall, and our home. We read some scriptures, praise and worship, promotional vidoes explaining Special Touch, questions and answer time, and refreshments. One couple and young girl from Morris went to camp in Minnesota to be counselors. They came back with several ideas for crafts and games-so they have been in charge of the games and activities for our monthly events.
We and other parents saw a need for spiritual outreach for the disabled. There are 300 physical and mentally handicapped/disabled in our small county (10,000 +/- population).
