December 1st 2007 Winter Storm

The storm spread snow in various amounts throughout the state (Duluth-12 to 14 inches, Twin Cities-6-10 inches, etc...), which I had about 9 inches measure in my back yard...

I was on the road in the beginning to middle stages of the storm. I was a passenger of a 4x4 pick-up truck on the way home from my annual church's Men's Retreat. Here are more pics around my house...

April 3rd 2007 Winter Storm

It's April, right? It was April Fools 2 days ago, but it seems like it was today! Hey, this isn't the first time this happened. I remember back in the mid-late 80's there was a huge winter storm in April. As a little kid, all that snow look like it was alot. I have some pictures to prove this, which I was all smiling having fun (probably because I had no school) playing in the snow. I decided to show a couple of pictures I took after shoveling in all that snow blowing off and on earlier this afternoon...

I say we had about as high as 4 inches of snow in some parts and some areas you can still see the tips of the grass as the wind caused some drifts. It was pretty windy earlier this afternoon when I was shoveling and the bottom of the snow was pretty wet and heavy.

I had the opportunity to finish some errands around my house, do some computer work (e.g. Easter Reflections), and cook a good meal since I had no work today (3rd day this year)! I'll be watching the second game of the 2007 Twins baseball season (joined Fantasy Baseball this year, so I'll be following closely).

"A view of my house with the snow..."

Picture from the front door of the Woodland Home (group home I'm on-call and part-time), which I was called (non-weather-related circumstances) in Friday evening starting @10p to work till Saturday noon -early in the weekend storm.

I left my house around 9am to find more snow in my back yard. I was walking torwards my car 1 block away (parked at a nearby church parking-lot) because I couldn't get into my garage in the alley last night!

Usually on Sunday mornings, I pick-up the church (Morris Community Church) signs in our "old" church building. I couldn't even open the side door, so I had to shovel the snow away with my boots. I would later shove a path leading to the side-door. It seems we got 3-4" inches of snowfall since midnight. I took this picture (top left) to show you what happens to your car if you leave it overnight on the city streets (E. 6th St.-2 blocks down west from the "old" elementary school building)

I took this picture from the Morris Area High School (around 9:45a), which the area looked very deserted. The churches I saw that had services had very few cars than their normal Sunday.

Driving north on Columbia Ave. after church service torwards the "old" elementary school. I took a picture of someone with a snow blower, which was a a typical site at this time.

Finally got to my destination (garage at my home) after shoveling my way (around 12:30p-almost 30 minutes after leaving the church service). I ended up shoveling this alley road block by myself for awhile, then a nearby neighbor (Dan, a former UMM Student, who is visiting (from Minneapolis) his girlfriend)who was trying to get out ended up helping (one of many "Good Samaritans" helping their neighbors).

More pictures I took after taking my lunch break after shoveling most of the morning. I just want to thank my neighbor (Moses) behind my backyard for shoveling my driveway yesterday and is currently shoveling more of it around as I write this (around 3pm). *Note: E. 3rd St. looks a lot better compared to yesterday.
