Structure of Editorials

  • Introduction - Opinion; give a brief background if necessary. It contains the news peg or the brief statement on an issue with reactions.
  • Body - These may take two to three paragraphs that support or justify the reaction. It is where you explain your paper's position on a topic. The writer should provide facts, examples and expert opinions with the topic. Include any opposing opinions first and follow with yours.
  • Conclusion or Clincher - It summarizes the editorial's stand. The editor should comment on the solutions or restate the paper's position.
