~Cat Book Page~

Following are some some of the books in my own personal library...some may be available in bookstores..others possibly only at the library or antique shops and yard sales. I will add to the list as I sort through more books or add to my collection...Happy reading!

"My First Kitten" ...by Karla Olson...illustrated by Diane Blasius.
Copyright 1994 by Magnolia Editions Limited.
This is a great book for kids who are getting their first kitten..informative but written on their level...and some fun things thrown in too...although I did find a mis-information stating that house cats are the only animals that purr...as I've had the privilege to pet a full grown couger (kids..don't go looking for a wild cat to pet please...*S*) and it purred and rubbed against my hand...other than that...great book, and cute illustrations.

"Cat's Cradle" ...by Ernest Nister.
Copyright 1979 by Intervisual Communications, Inc.
Originally published in 1890 by Ernest Nister.
The copy I have is one of a four book set very small and in a box bearing the name: Little Tales From Long Ago by Ernest Nister.
These are children's stories...but adults will appreciate them as much or more,
I love the antique style pictures...very pretty to look  at, and display.

"In Praise Of Cats"
Copyright 1992 by The Image Bank, Inc.
A collection of photos, poems, quotes, and sayings.
Some very unique and pretty photos...nice "endstand" book.

"Cute Little Kitten Tales" ...illustrated by Sharon Banigan.
Samuel Lowe Company, Copyrighted 1969 by James & Jonathan, Inc.
This is one from my collection that I had as a child...I remember "petting" the black, velvety, glitter embedded kitten on the cover over and over...this is one I begged my mother to read over and over...and she complied...*S*

"The Story of Serapina" ...by Anne H. White...illustrated by Tony Palazzo.
Copyrighted 1951 by Anne H. White.
First published by The Viking Press, 1951.
A youth book, having 10 chapters...includes some cute charcoal illustrations, mine is the original published version that I picked up at a library discard book sale.

"Three To Get Ready" ...by Betty Boegehold...illustrated by Mary Chalmers.
Text copyright 1965 by Betty Doyle Boegehold, pictures copyrighted 1965 by Mary Chalmers.
A children's "early reader" book...another I picked up at a library discard book sale...cute picture, sweet story...with the typical repetitiveness of books for beginning readers.

"Three Little Kittens" ...illustrated by Tom and Blonnie Holmes.
Copyrighted 1962 by James & Jonathan, Inc. Published by Samuel Lowe Company.
Another one of my childhood "faves" ...a "see and say" book...replacing some of the words with illustrations of the characters and things in the book so children participate in the story...dear memories when I look at this book..*S*

"Tough Guy" ...by Bianca Bradbury...illustrated by Marie C. Nichols.
Copyrighted 1953 by Bianca Bradbury and Marie C. Nichols, published by Houghton Mifflin Company.
Children's book about a Persian cat, and a "tiger and white" cat, in competition to see who's the "toughest", in the end they decide to help each other learn new things...cute story helping kids discover that everyone has strengths and weaknesses.

"Beatrix Potter Giant Treasury" ...by Beatrix Potter; author, illustrator.
This version copyrighted 1984 by Crown Publishers, Inc., published by Derrydale Books.
Three of the five stories included in this collection of stories have a "cat" theme...charming stories but also teaching lessons about such things as disobediance...beautifully illustrated as anyone familiar with her work can attest...a classic.

"James Herriot's Cat Stories" ...by James Herriot...illustrated by Lesley Holmes.
Coypright 1994 by James Herriot...illustrations copyrighted 1994 by Leslie Holmes, published by St. Martin's Press.
Heartwarming true accounts of the experiences of the author/veterinarian, very entertaining...and his compassion shines through these stories, charming illustrations scattered throughout. His other writings are wonderful too...but this is my pick of course. A must for any cat fancier who enjoys reading also.

"Kittens An Illustrated Treasury" ...compiled by Michelle Lovric.
Copyrighted 1994 by Royle Publications Limited, published by Courage books.
Absolutely gorgeous artwork selected and reproduced from the archives of the long established London greeting card publisher, Royale. Nostalgic quotes, poems, and excerpts of classic works. I found this at a bookstore and considered it a "steal" at $2.97! A beatiful addition to any cat lover's library, or as a coffee table book.

"The New Cat Handbook" ...by Ulrike Muller.
Copyrighted 1984 by Grafe and Unzer GmbH, US edition published by  Barron's Educational Series, Inc., in 1984.
Very informative book covering care, nutrition, diseases, and breeding of cats. Several months ago this book virtually helped me save my cat's life...she was ill...and I didn't realize how serious it was until I used this book to help diagnose her myself and rushed her to the vet, she was in need of a major operation which took place the next day after her condition was stabilized. Highly recommended.

"The Kingdom Of Cats" ...From National Wildlife Federation.
Copyrighted 1987 by National Wildlife Federation.
This is the highest priced book I have ever purchased...I can't recall the exact amount, but it was worth every penny, er...dollar I spent on it..*L*...stunning photograghs as we've come to expect, very informative book on all known wild cat breeds...some I had never even heard of, even tells such interesting facts as each cat's average weight, and much more. Great on a coffee table or bookshelf.

The following are all "picture books", but include information on different breeds of domestic cats.
"Cats"...by Angela Sayer.

First published in the USA 1984 by Gallery Books.
"The Color Nature Library Cats" ...by Peggy Wratten.
