Our reading story is Big Bushy Mustache by Gary Soto.  Ricky's class is preparing for their Cinco de Mayo play, and Ricky chooses a big, bushy mustache for his costume.  Wearing his bigote, Ricky feels he looks just like his dad.  Although his teacher tells him to leave it at school, Ricky decides to wear his mustache home, reveling all the way in how grown-up it makes him feel.  Much to Ricky's surprise and dismay, by the time he arrives home the mustache is gone, and Ricky dreads having to tell his teacher.  Luckily, his Mami and Papi have a plan.  Ricky is delighted the following morning when his mother hands him a big, bushy mustache - fresh from the smiling face of his clean-shaven Papi!  This story is a warm celebration of the strong bonds of love between a father and his son.

Our reading focus skills will be on contractions and words with the suffixes -ful and -ly.
