This classic Tim Burton film has many ups and a few downs. This is a wonderful modern-day fairy tale that is well-done in just about every aspect. Johnny Depp is wonderfully cast in the title role, as a man who was created by an inventor (Vincent Price), but his hands were never completed. So, he has scissors for hands. My one problem with the film is that it gets a bit episodic, simply putting our character in various situations, more for comedic effect than genuine story-telling. Still, though, this is a wonderful film that will make you cry, or at least bring a tear to your eye.
Rated PG-13 for violence, language, and sexual content.
