COLD
MOUNTAIN

2003 *** 154 mins.

Beautiful photography, Nicole Kidman, and Natalie Portman are all that make this film worth watching. The chemistry between the two main characters does not exist, and even Renee Zellweger's performance can be a bit annoying at times. The idea was great, and the book may be a lot better. It just did not come off as well as it should have. Basically, this is a version of Homer's The Odyssey as updated to the Civil War.
Rated R for violence and (un-needed)sexuality.
