1994 ***** 103 mins.
From the first time I saw this fabulous film in full screen, edited for television, I was completely under its spell. It's filled with great music and campy fun that stays strong through every single frame. This film is in complete control over everything it wants, and that, more than anything else, is what warrants the five star rating.
The performances are wonderful, the costumes are outrageous, the music makes you want to dance, and damn it, this film makes you wish you were a drag queen!
Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, and Guy Pearce play Bernadette, Mitzi, and Felicia, three drag queens journeying across the Australian Outback in their bus named Priscilla, on their way to a performance. Their adventures along the way and after the performance are spellbinding. This is a must for any video collection.
Rated R for language and sexual content.
