TITAN A.E.

2000 *** 95 mins.

This is an entertaining animated sci-fi flick that's geared towards an older audience. It's not all that great, though, because it's very predictable. Also, the rock music in it sticks out like a sore thumb. The first song is fine. But, after that, all the songs are so out of place and obvious. Like the "Wake Angels" scene--it's only there as a vehicle for the song that's played with it. It's a bit frustrating. Also, the animation got on my nerves. Parts of it are classicly drawn, while others are computer-generated sets that have a lot of fancy cinematography with it. It's like the filmmakers couldn't make up their minds as to how they wanted the film animated. It's still very entertaining, though, and that deserves some credit.
Rated PG for language and animated nudity.
