~Alternate 8th Pass~

The skies of Pern are once again made unsafe by the threat of the Red and its dreaded offspring, Thread. A beautiful Queen dragon and her rider venture from their home at Southern Weyr, wanting to escape their horrible past. They seek a place all their own, to build a new and magnificant Weyr. She flies past tje parts of the Southern Continent familiar to the Pernese, and soars towards a vast, hostile jungle. Before she travels too far from civilization, she sees a bay that has been labeled by the Southerners as the Great Bay. She flies into the Bay, and encounters an Island that split the Bay in half, changing the one vast body of water into two rivers that flow past the island. On the island she found a huge permanantly inactive volcano that was a wonderful place for her new home. Her better sense told her that she would be unable to populate and enlist people to fill this beautiful Weyr. She took one long lasting look at her magnificant new Weyr and island, memorizing all the details in sight so that she could return without the tiring flight. Mounting her graceful dragon, the Goldrider lifted off and winked between to Ista Weyr where she enlisted the help of an old friend, and fellow Goldrider, Maren.

Now, two Turns later, the pair of Goldriders have bonded into an inseprable pair. They made the dormant volcano a suitable place for Weyrlife, and cleared some of the island so that a Hold can be established. People have begun to expand their dwelling towards the Great Bay, and the volcano island, and now all the supplies they could need are tithed from the surrounding areas. Now they have sent notices to all of the Original Weyrs and await new arrivals.
