When the grass gets real green,
And I go barefoot and without a shirt,
When cherries are gone, and peaches come in,
Summertime is indeed here.

Wade the creek, gig for frogs,
Swim and even inner tube,
Summer is the time of joy,
Time to kick back and be a boy.

Time to work, mow the lawn,
Go fishing and play baseball,
Go on picnics and camp out,
Catch a fish and cook it there.

Yep, oh yes indeed, summer is a time to be free.
No job, no school, no homework,
Just the chores that mom and dad give to me.
Summertime I do love.
