Mangalore is a city of Beautiful Beaches.

PANAMBUR BEACH
This beach is situated on the Mangalore-Udupi highway (NH 17) to the left  around 7 kms from the city. On the way to this beach you can see MCF (Mangalore Chemical Fertilizer) and Kudremukh Iron Ore Company.The Panambur beach is a popular Sunday outing spot among the locals. This beach is very near to the New Mangalore port, it is the harbour for many ships. Usually granites and grains are exported from this harbour. This is a beautiful clean beach attracting large number of visitors and tourists during summer vacation and other holidays. You can also view splendid ships sailing among the ups and down of the rough Arabian sea. Chat and snack stalls are available near the beach.  One can see the shoreline stretching of all the way to Surathkal from here. The lighthouse of the Surathkal Beach can also been seen from this beach.
City Buses with Route no. 2, 2A, 2C, 40A, 41A, 45, 45G, 53, 53A, 59 A short walk of 10 minutes from the bus stand is required to the beach.

SURATHKAL BEACH
This beach is also situated  on the Mangalore-Udupi highway (NH 17)  to the left around 20 kms from the city. This  beach is opposite to the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (K.R.E.C). The main attraction of this beach is the Surathkal Light House. In the evening you can find many engineering students gather here for a small walk and for some games. It is a pleasant place for studies, a very peaceful and  a calm beach.

THANEERBHAVI BEACH
This beach is also situated  on the  Mangalore-Udupi highway (NH 17) to the left around 6 kms from the city. You will come across Kudremukh Iron Ore Company on the way  to this beach, from the side walls you can have a look at the Iron Ore company. The special attraction of  this beach is  the boating facility. Boating is open to public only during summer  and during public hoildays. You can take a panoramic boat ride through the back waters of the Arabian sea.
 
 

 

SUMMER SANDS
This is the only Beach Resort in Mangalore. This beach is situated in a place called Ullal around 12 kms on the Mangalore-Kerala Highway (NH 17) to the right. It is 10 Kms towards South of Mangalore and 30 Kms  from Mangalore Airport.  This beach resort is owned by a catholic Alburque Family. There are beautiful family cottages, you can choose from  a  single room cottage  or with 2 Bed rooms with a kitchen. A selection of 24 a/c rooms, 51 non a/c rooms  2 & 3 bed roomed, tile roofed private villas  are also available amidst of  lush coconut grove at your service.
Summer sands serve you with of the best sea food in the town, you can also  taste the flavour of typical Mangalore  sea food dishes, it is a beach side Multicuisine restaurant. You can also have your business meet here, a  Conference hall for 120 people is available at reasonable price. All purpose hall opening onto the pool area for 300  people is something you must experience.
Not only all this, there is also a  DOLPHIN BAY CLUB where you can play Pool table, Table tennis, Card table, Caroms, Darts, Dominos read books in the mini library and jog on the  Jogging track all this facing the sea and much more.

SOMMESHWAR BEACH
This beach is situated on the Mangalore-Kerala highway(NH 17) to the right around 14 kms from Mangalore city. Sommeshwar means another name of Lord Shiva.  The main attraction of this beach is the unique  rock patterns on the sand. You can see the beautiful sea  and the rich sun set from  top of these rocks. It is also a film maker's paradise, many kannada, Hindi and Malayalam movies have been picturised here on this beach. Near to this beach is the Sommeshwar Temple surrounded by high walls which looks like a fort from a distance. Sommeshwar beach have been attracting hundreds of visitors from all over Mangalore, around Mangalore and also from Kerala.
