2002 Titans

    5/02/02 - @Denison
How many ways can you say ugly. When we started the game we clearly dominated. But as the game progressed it got ugly and we managed to get caught up in Denisons physical style of play. Even though they are very physical and always attack the ball, we won everything, the card count was Denison 0, LC 3 (1 Yellow and 2 Reds), the scoreboard Denison 0, LC TITANS 1. The lone goal came just 10 minutes into the game as Kieth Damgaard (JYD) crossed the ball and Todd Edwards was right there to put in his first goal of the season off the header. From there we played well the rest of the first half but man did it get ugly in the second half. 17 minutes in the second half it all starts, Daniel Knigge picks up the red card and we are one man down, oh but stick around it's gets better. It appeared to be something about 17. With 17 minutes left in the game Austin Croushorn and one of their players get tangled up and Austin winds up doing the retaliation and gets the red card. Stupid call and the worst part was he only gives out one card. Well now we are down two men. Play really picked up Damgaard and Seth Jackson and we managed to run out the clock and get out of town alive. We knew it would be tough going in and they didn't disappoint us. It goes to show when you don't finish and put a team away. We didn't score and take advantage of the opportunities when we had them. All that does is give a team like that think they still are in the game. That's when things start to happen. Justin Toole picks up his third shut out of the season and played a great great game. Anyway it was a stroke in the W column and we are now missing two for Harlan on Monday. Harlan is another one of those teams that deals us fits every year. We lost to them two years ago and went to OT last year. We need to finish and get on with business. Harlan comes to town on Monday, it's time to start to focus. Check back on Tuesday.

JV played better then the first time we played them but not good enough. We managed to score first in the game at the 24 minute mark as John Kocourek put the ball across to Andy Himes and he planted it into the back of the net, it was pretty. From there we played well and had some confidence going into the half. The second half was different. Two dropped balls and there are up two to one just that fast. They wanted it more in the second half and attacked every ball. We are playing much better ball then when the season started on the defensive side of the ball. We have three games left in the season and we have time to work on the finish.
