Coach's Comments
2003 Titans

    5/20/03 - TJ
Well how do you like that, rematchs have been very very good to us this year.  Last night TJ came to our house.  We managed to avange the loss from Saturday to TJ in overtime and we remained perfect at home this year.  It was a perfect night for soccer, maybe a little cool by the end, but hey who noticed.  The first half we started out a little slow, and it was 0-0 at the half.  They come out and scored first in the second half but we answered right back to tie it up again at 1.  The play was just like a coach draws it up, Dan Gulden switches the field to Zach Paulson, Zach sends it deep in the corner to John Harvey, John runs it down and cross's it in front of the net.  Josh Grovsner is there with the perfect header to end a beautiful 4 touch series.  This ties it up and the game ends 1-1.  We go through the OT and no one can end this one.  So like Saturday, to OT we go. This time we prevail.  We practiced PK's last night at practice, one for Justin Toole, and two to find someone we can count on if we need to.  This time we make 3 out of 4, and they hit 1 out of 4.  The 5th shooter isn't even needed.  Justin Toole takes the first PK for us and starts out the scoring, the other PK's were made  tonight by Josh Govsner, and John Harvery.  Tonight our defense kept us in this one, Seth Jackson, Dan Gulden, and Zach Paulson really played well and stepped up.  Josh Grovsner and Josh Probst probably had there best game of the season.

This was a good win, this weekend we start District play.  We will travel to Sioux City to play Sioux City West at noon.
I hear the view is really good from the ISD parking lot.  Like I said, rematch's have been good to us this year.   You have to take advantage of these opportunities when they are handed to you.   We beat St. Alberts on Saturday and then got back at TJ tonight, how do you like that.

JV, way to play hard, go down fighting, and end the season with a win and a winning record. This is really a good feeling and they deserve to be winners.  JV has practiced hard all season and has never quit.  Goals were scored tonight by Bobby Durand, John Kocourek.  The best goal socred by JV tonight was off of a great coaching move.  I put in Brad Stageman and in less then 30 seconds he scores.  What a move.  Actually what a goal.  Good job, goal, and effort Brad.  Last week I challanged them that they needed to win here on out in order to finish with a winning record.  They stepped up and didn't let themselves down.  They won the last three games and beat some good teams to get there, and finished on a winning note.  We will have an awards party at the end of the season.  Check back here and I will post the date when we decide it.  Again good finish to the season JV.  Have a great summer, keep busy, and keep out of trouble.
