Coach's Comments
2003 Titans

    5/05/03 - Glenwood
The weather was perfect for soccer tonight and you couldn't ask for more. Sunny, no wind, and high 60's. Glenwood came to town looking to get us back or beating them earlier this year at their house. It was with no doubt a hard fought game and Glenwood does know how to win the ball and take charge. We scored early in the first half just 18 mintes into the game. It turned out to be all that was needed. Josh Probst pass's the ball to the middle to Luke Thompson. Instead of sending the ball to the corner Luke takes the shot from about 30 yards out. He hits it hard and into the top right hand corner. It turns out to be all that is needed to mark a W but it didn't come without a fight. At the half we told them if they thought this one over they were wrong. Glenwood came out fighting hard the second half. They could smell it just couldn't get in close enough to do anything with it. Glenwood out shot us 19 to 11 but never really mounted an all out attack. Defensively Seth Jackson, Zach Paulson, and Dan Gulden played an outstanding game. Glenwood played nothing but boom ball, but deensively we were always there to send it away. Justing Toole logged another shut out for the season. Justin played very well and made some outstanding saves to help seal the victory.Josh Grosvenor and John Harvey played well up on top and with Pat Powers together they worked well. Doug Junior started up on top tonight for John Harvey and he had a great game. He stepped in and handled himself and the ball very well. We have two days to get ready for the next one. On Thursday Denison comes to town, if you thought tonight was physical, wait until Thursday. Denison is always ready to play.

JV didn't log a win but they logged a big moral victory. They were down at the half 2-0 and I asked them to look within and tell me who wanted it. We have not been scoring like we should and I was looking for someone to finish. We came out the second half and started to play like we wanted to. We were attacking the ball and winning the 50/50. It was even better to see us actually finish one. We got Alex O'Neal in the second have and right away he gets sent to the corner. Alex has a perfect cross from the the corner and Walter Osborn is there to put it away. It was pretty and fun to watch. Now that is what we are talking about. Keep it up. moments later Jeff Walters scores his third for the season and ties up the game. We didn't win but we got back on track and started to score again. We had so many unfinished shots durin the game that we really should have won the game. Now if we can build on the momentium that we finished with we should finish over 500. Denison will be another good test.
