Coach's Comments
2002 Titans

    5/14/02 - @Thomas Jefferson (City Field)
To keep from getting in trouble I have little to say tonight. The effort on the comments go in line with the effort put forth in the game. I don't know if we were looking ahead to Saturday and the First Round of Districts or what we were doing but we were not on the field in spirit. We were confused, lacked communication, and no heart what so ever. Tonights loss hurt, it was the last game of the regular season and it was not a good way to end it. We have played way to well all year to end it like we did. Hopefully the hurt from tonight will be what we need to make a difference on Saturday when we will face Thomas Jefferson again in the first round of Districts. Justin Toole played another great game and along with the defense kept it from being a lot worse. During the game we had our opportunites but could not manage to finish. But on the bright side we finished the regular season at 10-2 and that is a great improvement over last year. The regular season is over and we now begin a new season, win and we keep going, lose and we are done. I am not planning on losing and I believe they feel the same way. Check back on Saturday and see how we did.

Way to go JV, finish strong and played great. I told them at the begining of the game that this was the season, take nothing home with you, and don't look back and say I could have played harder. Played harder they did, we out played TJ and won 2-0. Both goals were scored by Ben Edwards in the second half, or at least one for sure. The second goal was scored by a TJ player and Ben was the last one on our side to touch it. Ben has been playing defense and has mentioned to me several times that he would like to play up some time. Tonight he felt he could make a difference and he could beat them on the outside. I dropped Austin Croushorn back to Sweeper and game Ben his chance at midfield on the left side. I told him he had five minutes to do something or I would move him back. It took longer than five minutes but he was playing well up there and the defense was picking it up and keeping TJ out. Finally the right opportunity came and Ben took advantage of coming in from the left side. The shot goes in and we are off to the races. Later on Ben sends another shot toward goal. After deflecting off of two TJ players, they try to clear it but it goes the wrong way and into our net. This was a great win for JV tonight, last game of the season, three in a row, and they did it on there own. We did not give them any help from any Varsity starters tonight, it was all them. They stepped up tonight and came to play. Scott Versch logged another shut out tonight and Bruce Pomerleau got in for the save. Great game, fun season, and way to finish strong. This will be a great kick start for next year.
