Coach's Comments
2002 Titans

    5/06/02 - Harlan
A picture perfect night for soccer. 83 and no wind at all, all most unheard of. We started it out with senior night and I would like to mention them again hear in the comments. Our seniors that we will say good bye to and good luck where ever their future may take them are Jeremy Root, Ross Shepard, Jimmy Johnston, Todd Edwards, and Daniel Knigge. Thank you all for the years and memories that you have given to Titan soccer. Harlan came to town tonight with a game plan that spelled survive and go home. In a way it was a very frustrating game plan for our boys. They played us in a 6-3-1 and flooded the box with defenders. It made it next to possible to get inside. Every time we would get close they would just boom it out there and we would have to start over. Finally with just over 12 minutes left in the first half Jimmy Johnston punches in his first goal of the night. Then three minutes later Josh Probst takes a shot that bounces off of a defender and Ross Shepard is right there to put away his 7 goal of the season. One minute later Jimmy connects on his second goal for the night off of a free kick that splits two defenders in the wall and goes in. That ended the scoring for the first half. The on score in the second half came off a Penalty Kick from Jimmy Johnston for his third goal of the night and his 12 goal for the season. Hats off to Jimmy and Ross for playing the whole game hard tonight and really working out there. Great game by Keith Damgaard and winning every thing in the middle tonight, Keith really picked it up a notch tonight. Justinn Toole logged his 4 shut out tonight with the defense of Zach Paulson, Dan Gulden, Keith Damgaard, and Seth Jackson in front of him. Toole only had 5 saves in the game, pretty good. With the game in hand as it was we managed to get everyone into the game tonight on the varsity roster even Bruce Pomerleau got some time up front. We dominated the whole game but we didn't really look very sharp doing it. Again we played down to the level of competition. We will have to come with our hard hats on tomorrow as we travel to city field to take on cross town rival AL. This will be a tough well fought game. Check back tomorrow. PS. Congrats to Jimmy for getting one on the coach, 1 out of 4 isn't bad. Oh by the way, keepers don't take PK unless it's a shoot out.

Way to go JV and Mr. Whites shoes Zach Paulson. JV worked very well together tonight, controlled the game and finally finished. Paulson played the first half of the JV game and managed to put in 3 goals. The first goal was assisted by the throw in from Dan Black. The final goal was put in by Travis Swisher as he puts in his goal of the season. It is nice to see some scoring happening. It feels good and it builds your confidence as the game goes on. Defensively we played well tonight as we let very little inside. Ben Edwards was very solid at Sweep while Dan Black and Bobby Durand covered the corners. We have two JV games left for the season, they are playing well right now and it would be nice to go out winning. It's too bad the season is almost over. Anyway one game at a time, tomorrow AL, this should be a good test for this young team.
