Kim and TerryKIm Beazley in Lismore
Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley arrived in Lismore by bus on tuesday evening, February 13, with his entourage including ex-union leader Martin Ferguson and ALP candidate for Page, Terry Flanagan (right of photo) and attended a function with local ALP branch members.

The following day, the Opposition Leader dropped into ABC Radio North Coast for an interview and fielded questions from the listening audience.
He then visited Southern Cross University before departing for Tweed Heads to attend a fundraiser for their local federal candidate.

The electorates of Page (includes Lismore) and Richmond (includes Tweed Heads) are vital for a Labor victory in this year's federal election. Both seats are currently held by the National Party.
Swing required for Labor: Page 2.6% & Richmond 0.1%.

Go to ABC Radio North Coast for Mr Beazley's interview and his answers to questions asked by North Coast residents - in streaming audio.

RSL VOTERSL members turn out in force to vote "yes"
The entrance to the Lismore RSL Club was packed on Sunday morning, February 11, when club members arrived to vote on the sale of part of their carpark and bowling green to Lismore City Council for $230,000.
The council requires the land for redevelopment of a swimming pool, Lismore Memorial Baths, which lies adjacent to the club.
Late last year, a vote to sell the land to council was narrowly defeated.
This time, the members voted in favour of the sale by 556 to 182.
keep leftFloods hit Lismore
Lismore was slowly returning to normal on Sunday, February 4, as floodwaters subsided and shopowners in the CBD were tidying up.
Premier Bob Carr arrived in the morning.
He inspected the district by helicopter, then visited the CBD and spoke to several shopkeepers.

The district was declared a natural disaster area on Friday (FEB 2) after the Wilsons River peaked at 10.4 metres.
Residents and shopowners in the CBD and immediate surrounds were asked to evacuate as rising floodwaters ebbed through the city streets. Many had worked through the night shifting their stock and belongings.
The area had been lashed by heavy rain and howling winds for two days prior to the flooding.
