Junior winnerSenior winnerNorthern Star Half Million Dollar Golf Shoot-out
The golfing enthusiast's dream took place last weekend at Lismore's Mortimer Oval.
About 400 golfers and hackers competed for the opportunity to win a holiday, golfing products, a Subaru WRX and $500,000 for a hole-in-one.

The big money was 'up for grabs' in the final for a hole-in-one and if they achieved a distance no greater than 25cm (ten inches) from the hole, they would have won a Subaru WRX.
Unfortunately the finalists missed out on the money and car, though they shared in other prizes.

Jersey GoldThe reverse-whammy
Dairy farmers Phil and Jan Denniston of Bentley, frustrated by deregulation and low farmgate prices for their milk, fought back and installed a bottling facility on their property.
They initially processed 500 litres of milk per day under their own-brand 'Jersey Gold' and 'Rainbow Farm' but that has since doubled due to customer demand.
The milk 'hit the shelves' on Monday, December 11, at cost-price and now retails at about $2 for two litres.

cakeLet there be cake - for International Volunteer Day
Volunteers from the Lismore district were recognised on December 5 (International Volunteer Day) in a celebration at Spinks Park.
Certificates were given to over 40 organisations acknowledging their volunteers.
The organisations represent 4150 volunteers who donated 324,483 hours of their time over the past 12 months.
The ceremony was marred by heavy rain, but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the large crowd who stayed to the end and tucked into a sausage sizzle and two very large cakes.

EmmaLismore's new airport terminal
Emma McDougall was the first incoming passenger to 'hit the tarmac' at Lismore's new airport terminal which opened on Sunday, December 3.
Emma, her sister and mother flew in from Sydney on Hazelton Airlines to visit relatives in the district.
The $2.3 million airport terminal was originally due to open last July, but suffered a "hiccup" when the builder went broke.

Motorcyclists deliver Christmas gifts
Lismore came alive on Saturday morning, December 2, when 70 motorcycles loaded with toys, circled the CBD and headed 'up the hill' to the offices of 2LM at Goonellabah as part of that radio station's annual Children's Christmas Appeal.
The toy -run was organised by the Northern Rivers Harley Owners Group (HOG) and Seaside Motorcycles.
Many of the toys were donated by business houses in the region.
