| by air by train or bus and ferry by car and ferry from MV airport or ferry terminal to Edgartown Airport Arrivals Upon arrival to the Martha's Vineyard airport you can take a cab, rent a car or take the #6 Vineyard Transit Authority Bus to Church Street in Edgartown. Be advised that cabs often take more than one passenger at a time without splitting the fare and if you are renting a car, be sure to secure a reservation as the amount of cars available will likely be somewhat limited. If you chose to take the bus into town, you'll be getting off at the last stop. The fare should be $2; be sure to bring exact change. Click here to view the #6 Bus schedule. Scroll down to the bottom part of the schedule; you will be going "inbound." The Church St. stop is directly perpendicular to St. Elizabeth's Church and all the hotels are within a 5-15 minute walking distance. Driving directions from Airport to Edgartown: From Airport Road take a left onto Edgartown/West Tisbury Road Take this road all the way into town (approximately 15 minutes or so) until the road ends. Then take a right onto Main Street. St. Elizabeth's Church will be on your right after two or three blocks. Ferry Arrivals If you arrive by ferry, you'll land in a town called Vineyard Haven. From here you can also take a cab to your hotel or take the #1 bus to Church Street in Edgartown. (The #13 bus also will take you to Church St. via the scenic route, but may take a little longer or possibly require a bus switch - check with the driver). The fare should be $3; be sure to have exact change. When you walk off the boat, the bus stop is about 100 ft. in front of you on the right - there's a little traffic circle. Click here to view the #1 bus schedule. Again, if you take a cab, be aware that it's likely there will be more than one fare in the cab with you. And it is possible to rent cars near the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal from both national and local companies, but the supply will likely be even more limited at this locale so be sure to contact your chosen company beforehand. Driving directions from Vineyard Haven Ferry to Edgartown (via the beach road): Take a left out of the ferry lot and get in the left lane. At "Five Corners" take a left onto Beach Road (not the near left into the dead end, the far left). Follow the road over the drawbridge, soon after passing the hospital, the road curves 90 degrees to the left (the opposing traffic will have a stop sign, but you will not have to stop). Keep following the road into Oak Bluffs where the road ends. Take a right onto Ocean View Drive (the water will be on your left) Follow the road for about 20 minutes past the beaches and the Stop & Shop into Edgartown. At the fork immediately after the Mobil, veer left and continue on Main St. towards downtown. St. Elizabeth's will be on the right (opposite the white church with the huge white columns). |
