| 01-31-03 METALLICA are rumored to be in the process of putting together another stadium package similar to 2000's Summer Sanitarium tour, according to Billboard. METALLICA last toured in 2000, taking in $40.5 million from only 20 shows, about a dozen of which were Summer Sanitarium dates featuring KID ROCK, KORN, and others. As previously reported, the group are gearing up to hit the European festival circuit this summer, beginning June 6 at the Rock Im Park festival in N�rnberg, Germany. A new studio album is also expected around that time. |
| 02-01-03 METALLICA will team up with LINKIN PARK and LIMP BIZKIT for a U.S. stadium tour this summer, according to LINKIN PARK DJ Joe Hahn. "Once we hit the summer we're going to do a stadium tour with METALLICA and LIMP BIZKIT," Hahn told Launch. "We're excited about [doing] all those [different kinds of] shows because there's different levels of intimacy. You know, the smaller ones being more intimate, but when you get the bigger shows it gets crazier so, it's a trade-off." Spokespersons for both METALLICA and LIMP BIZKIT couldn't comment on the tour, and no kick-off date or itinerary has yet been announced. |

| 02-05-03 Rock fans rejoice! Three of the music world's greatest, most vital bands are joining forces for one of the most compelling tours in rock history, the Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003. Metallica, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park come together for this once-in-a-lifetime live extravaganza that will kick off this coming summer, with all 3 bands playing headline length sets. The 3 groups are also delivering new albums to coincide with this unprecedented juggernaut throughout the U.S. The Summer Sanitarium Tour is slated to officially begin on July 4th. Their much anticipated new disc - their 8th studio album - entitled St. Anger, will be in stores on June 10th and is their first studio release since 1997's Re-Load In addition, Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003 is proud to announce Mudvayne to the line-up. The Peoria, Illinois, quartet are supporting their second album, The End of All Things To Come following the gold success of their debut L.D. 50. Deftones will also be an opening group. In no particular order, here are the confirmed cities for Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003. Specific dates to be confirmed later. Most of these shows will go on sale February 22nd. Stay tuned! | 02-08-03 According to Encyclopedia Metallica, Metallica have signed on to headline the final Big Day Out festival tour in Australia in January 2004. Metallica are expected to top the bill nationwide, most likely in conjunction with their own Australian tour at the same time. Cities penciled in for the Big Day Out tour include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. This year's Big Day Out festival featured the Foo Fighters in the headlining slot, with a host of support bands that included Queens Of The Stone Age, Jane's Addiction, Deftones and Murderdolls. Big Day Out, which started back in 1992, will have its final run in 2004, according to the organizers. |
