Victorian Motorkhana Championship

In 2009, the Victorian Motorkhana Championship (VMC) has 9 rounds scheduled from February to November – see the Victorian section of the Australian Motorkhana Calendar There is another multiclub motorkhana series in Victoria, run by Group 5, which will have 7 rounds in 2009.

VMC Fastest Test Times by Class have been maintained since 1990 by Brian Shanahan. You may need to bring the Excel window to the front and open the file as Read Only. The production car classes changed for the 2007 season, to reflect the generally larger size of modern producion cars.

Originally, the VMC was mainly a contest to find a state champion, but many other annual awards have been added since it began in 1969. The Victorian Champions are listed below.

Over each year, a points tally is kept for outright, each of the classes, handicap placings, clubs and country rounds. The Victorian Motorkhana Championship(VMC) fraternity holds a Presentation Night, usually in a function room at Bell’s Hotel in South Melbourne, where the points leaders, and the place-getters in the larger classes, receive trophies for their efforts.

Photos of the 2007 VMC Presentation Nights are at the photo website while some photos of the 2008 awards presentation are here

2008 Victorian Motorkhana Champion Aaron Wuillemin

Aaron is renowned for his "banzai" attacks on reversing tests like Hopkirk, Paddy and Waltz Slalom. Nowadays, they usually come off, without the many flag penalties he used to collect. With a new car under construction, he is looking forward to bigger things like the AMC.

In 2008, Victorian annual awards went to:

VMC History

The Victorian Motorkhana Championship (VMC) was first held in 1969. The Victorian Motorkhana Panel formulated a Victorian Motorkhana Code consisting of the rules for the conduct of the Championship and layouts of the tests which could be used. The Victorian Code was replaced by the National Motorkhana Code in 1972.

For VMC events, the National Code and Group 4H regulations found in the CAMS Manual, are modified by the Standing Regulations for the Victorian Motorkhana Championship. The Standing Regs includes changes to classes, timing methods, penalties, etc. but generally follows the National Code.
