Jo Ann Scaglione was a role model for many things in life, but the one thing that everyone who knew her will tell you was that she always had a smile on and was a wonderful mother to her children. She sacrificed herself for the good of others. Jo Ann gave others the will to go on. To make a difference in the world. To stand up for what you believe in. To love someone unconditionally. To have a passion for your career, like none other. Jo Ann represented these things.

Because of her love for children, and her willingness to survive, a scholarship is being established in her name, by her family. The scholarship will be offered a child at St. Joseph Catholic School, in Imperial.  Besides a scholarship, if God permits us, grants will also be given to families in need.

Applicants will be judged on  academics, effort, need, family parish involvement, and a pictorial  essay. The essay will focus on the applicants own mother. What she means to them, how she has influenced there lives and the lives of others, and her greatest accomplishments in life, so far.

This scholarship will be a wonderful way for the family to tell her story and to continue her legacy for many years to come, and to give a little back to the parish that helped them when they needed it the most. You may make your own personal contribution to this wonderful cause at any of the Eagle Banks in the Jefferson County area. Please make checks payable to "The Jo Ann Scaglione Scholarship Fund," or send them directly to Eagle Bank, P.O. Box 680, Hillsboro, MO, 63050, If you have any questions, please e-mail us at [email protected]. The winning applicant will be announced on April 13, the day she left her place on earth, for a far better one.

A Memorial plaque has been erected in the school cafeteria at St. Joseph School, to honor the winners of the scholarship, and their essay. It is a fitting tribute to such a wonderful cause.
