( A )    REMEMBERING CHRIST

In holy scripture, during the course of Christs' life on earth as well as after His ascension back into heaven; there is no evidence of a Christmas celebration.  No commandment nor instruction either by Christ Himself or His personally appointed apostles, was ever given to the Christian believer for participation in Christmas.  With regard to three specific parts of Christs' life; His birth, death, and resurrection, holy scripture records that the truth of His death, His sacrifice for sinful mankind, requires a honoring and remembering of our Lord.  Not only does the Lord Himself instruct this but Paul repeats it as well;

[26] And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
[27] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
[28] For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.  -  Matt.  26:26-28

[22] And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
[23] And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
[24] And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.  -  Mark 14:22-24

[19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you:
this do in remembrance of me.
[20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.  -  Luke 22:19-20

[23] For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
[24] And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you:
this do in remembrance of me.
[25] After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it,
in remembrance of me.
[26] For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.  -  I Corinthians 11:23-26

No where in scripture is there any evidence by word or deed that the Christian should participate in a Christmas celebration.  Moreover, there is no scriptural evidence to show that Christmas has any link to Christs' birth.  It is in His death; a memorial to Christs' sacrifice on the cross for sinful mankind, that we remember Him in the communion service.

But what of Christs' birth ?  Is there any scriptural evidence that the children of God should remember His birth with any sort of festivity or celebration ?  Is there any scriptural evidence which prohibits any desire for such manner of celebration ?  First, a desire to remember and celebrate the truth of Jesus Christs' birth is no where prohibited in holy scripture.  Next, when continued study of Gods' Word is made, there is evident proof of a festival which is linked to the reality of Jesus Christs' birth.  This festival is called, the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Sukkot.  Rather than being born in the wintery month which corresponds with our late December or early January; Christs' birth occurred at a time which corresponds with our present autumn season of late September or early October.  Since this is the case, then what of Christmas ?  What exactly is Christmas and why do Christians celebrate that festival with the thinking that it is linked to Christs' birth ?  Is Christmas the truth of God or is it a deceit which does not truly represent the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
