( H )    OLD & NEW TESTAMENT - SEPARATION

On various occasions, God provides plain instructions that His people should not involve themselves with the ways and manners of the heathen nations ( see also Lev. 18:30 / Deut. 12:29-32; 20:16-18 );

24.  Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25.  And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26.  Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:  -  Lev. 18:24-26

22.  Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out.
23.  And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.  -  Lev. 20:22-23

9.  When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.  -  Deut. 18:9

16.  When ye have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you,
and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.  -  Joshua 23:15

2. Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.   -  Jeremiah 10:2

However, Gods people often chose not to follow and cling to His commands and instructions ( see also Judges 2:16-23 / 1 Samuel 8:4-9 / 1 Kings 11:1-10 / 2 Kings 16:3-4; 21:1-9 );

22.  And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
23.  For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.
24.  And there were also Sodomites in the land:
and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.
-  1 Kings 14:22-24

15.  And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain,  and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
-  2 Kings 17:15

14.  Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people,
transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the Lord which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.  -  2 Chronicles 36:14

34.  They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:
35.  But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36.  And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.  -  Psalms 106:34-36

New Testament scriptures repeat and further confirm that God requires separation of His people from wickedness and the world;

14.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15.  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16.  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18.  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  -  2 Cor. 6:14-18

6.  Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8.  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9.  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10.  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11.  And
have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  -  Eph. 5:6-11

1.  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3.  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4.  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5.  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:
from such turn away.
-  2 Timothy 3:1-5

4.  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.  -  James 4:4

The Word of God is clear that none of Gods children should have anything to do with that which is idolatry, unrighteous and darkness.  Christmas fits these three definitions.  Christmas can never bless anyone but is a road which can only lead to destruction.
