| ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ( M ) THE ISSUE OF TRANSLATIONAL ERROR; NT - PART 3 Peter writes and states; 17. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. - 2 Peter 3:17-18 Peter warns the child of God to be wary of being led away with error of the wicked and thus falling from stedfastness ( single-minded, loyal, faithful, unchanging, patient ). Moreover, Peter continues to instruct the Christian to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. With this instruction, Peter confirms the words of Christ when He ( Jesus ) spoke of error and stated that error occurs because the person has no knowledge of the scriptures. Growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will keep the person from being led away with the error of the wicked. The words of Christ and Peter reveal that error should be avoided and the means to do so is growing in the knowledge of Christ which is found in the writings of scripture. If the KJV scriptures had translational error inherent within its� writings then those very scriptures would be a hypocritical source to help prevent the Christian being lead away from the error of wickedness. If the knowledge provided within the KJV scriptures was itself erroneous, then that scriptural knowledge would consequently nullify its' own ability and power as the means for providing salvation and the instruction and correction necessary for avoiding error and wickedness. Moreover, inherent translational error in the KJV scriptures would mean that those scriptures would have no real power to provide the Christian with the ability to remain stedfast in their Christian faith. Next, John writes; 6. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. - 1 John 4:6 John makes it clear that there is a spirit of truth and a spirit of error. If the English translation of holy scripture of the KJV had error then it automatically has the spirit of error and thus in reality, could never have and does not presently have the spirit of truth. If this were true then the KJV scriptures could never have provided salvation for the sinner. The KJV scriptures could never have provided the knowledge of the truth of the gospel of Christ which is the power of God for salvation ( Romans 1:16 ). Next, the apostle Jude writes; 10. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13. Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. - Jude 1:10-13 Jude writes of various descriptions of the erroneous person. Erroneous people corrupt themselves. They are spots. They are without fruit and even plucked up by the roots. Erroneous people, ( except for those who confess their sins and repent of their errors ), are reserved for the blackness of darkness forever. If the KJV holy scriptures had inherent translation errors within its� writing then it would be automatically guilty of all the various wicked criteria regarding error as described by Jude. Therefore, such a corrupted and erroneous written work could never have and presently does not provide the power for salvation for the sinful person. The belief that KJV scripture has translational error is itself a faulty belief and unjustified claim which presents a hypocritical view of those incorruptible and inerrant words. This is the purpose of citing and discussing these various scriptures from both the Old and New Testaments in regard to the issue of error ( more specifically, regarding the issue of translational error ). In truth, no person could ever have been saved with the writings of holy scripture as translated into English of the KJV if its� translation is inherently in error. Nevertheless, the KJV scriptures are holy, inerrant and without corruption. Those holy words provide truth, salvation, faith and eternal life to all who believe them and receive them with their whole heart ( 1 Thess. 2:13 / Eph. 1:12-13 / 1 Peter 1:22-23 / Psalms 119:9-11 / Prov. 16:6 ). Therefore the KJV scriptures need not to be retranslated nor rerendered into a � more accurate translation � for any reason. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
