| Quite bizarrely, Galis' greatest achievements came while he played for the Greek National Team. Wearing the blue and white jersey, he won the most important titles in his career and made his name even more recognisable. Galis led the Greeks to the top of the mountain, becoming an idol and setting basketball as one of the nation's favourite sports. |
| It's worth mentioning that the greek national team had only been successful once until 1980. It was back in 1949, when the Greeks won the bronze medal by beating Egypt. In all the other competitions, USSR and Yugoslavia seemed always unbeatable. |
