SETON HALL PIRATES
Nick Galis had already built his name in the mid 70s, as an irreplaceable member of the "Union Hill High School" basketball team. Several colleges offered him a basketball scholarship, but finally he chose "Seton Hall". He played for the Seton Hall Pirates, from 1975 until 1979. He did not immediately become the team's star:
Bill Raftery, Galis' teacher and Seton Hall's coach by then, tried him as a point guard for the first two years, because of his height (6.1 feet). That, explained his well known ability to pass the ball, later at the top of his career.
Galis did fine as the team's big head, passing and stealing the ball well, but the  best was to come in his last two years in NCAA, when Raftery decided to take advantage of the undoubtable scoring  instinct that ran into Nick's veins. He turned him into a scoring shooting guard, and in his fourth and last year,  Galis' name was standing next to Larry Bird's (yes, legendary Larry) in the list of the league's top scorers. Larry Bird  28,6, Nick Galis 27,5.
   Specifically: 1975-1976: Games played 24, Points   77, ppg  3,2

1976-1977: Games played 27, Points 365, ppg 12,9

1977-1978: Games played 29, Points 466, ppg 17,3

1978-1979: Games played 27, Points 743, ppg 27,5

Total: Games played 107, Points 1.651, ppg 15,4

The year 1978-1979 Galis broke all records. He scored 48 points (21/30) against the university of Santa Clara, in his  career scoring high in NCAA. He ranked first in both assists and steals, and became the Haggerty Award winner, an  award given to the best player of New York colleges (New York University, St. John's, Seton Hall, Long Island,  Rutgers, Manhattan, Fordham, Hofstra, Columbia, Iona). He was also voted to play to the "PIZZA HUT all american game" aka the NCAA all star game, along with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

He's a member of the "Seton Hall Athletic Hall of Fame" since 1991, while his total scoring of
1.651 points during  those four years, is still the 10th best of all times for the Seton Hall Pirates.

However, he did not have the opportunity to reach the NCAA finals, because of the lack of other good players in the  team.
