Cultures in Concert: Ramadan at BU

When asked how new students can learn about MSA, Naseer explains their introduction: “Before the school year begins, we have what we call freshman orientation where we invite all freshmen who are Muslims to come and learn about MSA. A lot of kids walk into freshman year unsure of what to expect. Although there’s a significant and visible Muslim population on campus, we’re still a minority. Inviting the students to come join our organization gives them an immediate warm welcome so they can gain a sense of belonging. I’m glad I can be a part of an association that facilitates this task.”

The MSA continues opportunities for all students to participate in their events. Past events from September included Jummah (Friday Prayer) on the first, and the Ice Cream Social which took place on the fifteenth. Throughout the month of Sept 24-Oct 24, Benedictine students showed their support of Ramadan by contributing non-perishable items to the food drive sponsored by Peer Ministers.
