After eliminating many of the unsuitable early ideas we decided on four final designs; for which we would build prototypes, we would do this on our residential at Birmingham University in December 2001. |

'Project Dave' fits around the pedal and has a treaded bar in order to adjust the pivot distance. The first design was a large cuboid with 2 treaded bars. This was decided to be unsuitable and was adjusted to a much lighter, cleaner shape with only one threaded bar; this was named 'Series II' |

'Project Steve' is a more complex design consisting of three threaded bars. Two in order to adjust the pivot distance, it is the idea that two threaded bars will be more stable. The third bar goes through the two blocks to clamp the pedal. Steve went through many modifications, to see them click here, but remember to come back to this page. |

'Project Lacey is a little odd but our Engineer had assured us that it would work...It didn't! The idea was that it is a length of strong wire would stop the pedal. One end attached to the pedal the other to the steering column. It would be adjusted to suit. The problem we found was that the drivers foot would have had to have been strapped to the pedal and this was against testing regulations, plus it would have probably ripped the steering column ot ou the car. |

Once again the man to blame is Mr Lee Brooker, (no surprises thier then). He assured us that this design would work. We soon came to realise that he didn't really have a clue. As when we got to the workshop he realised that it wouldn't even fit in the car and would about five tonnes. We abruptly scrapped the idea. |
