Sew one dark (path) 2 1/2" X WOF  fabric to one 4 /2" X WOF strip of light  fabric.

Sub-cut into twelve 2 1/2" wide units.

Press seam to light fabric.

. sew. . .to .  ... side of previous units as in the illustration.
Press seam to light fabric.
.........
Cut your 6 1/2" strip of  medium fabric into
twelve (12)  2 1/2 inch segments.
.sew.....to.. to previous sewn units as in illustration.

Press seam to medium fabric.

If you put the pieced unit on the top and the plain strip on the bottom it is easier to sew. 
The seams don't get caught in the feed dogs that way.

Sew one dark (path) 2 1/2" X WOF  fabric to one
6 1/2" X WOF strip of light fabric.

Press seam to light fabric.

Sub-cut into twelve 2 1/2" wide units.

   Sew   to ..  side of previous units as in the illustration.
  And your block is done!

(rotate around for placement as illustrated at top of page. )

 Take a stretch... walk the dog or yourself... then go on to applique the pumpkin or center motif of your choice.
