Lets start with some of my ancestors. Here they are in 1927 in Paya Lebar, Singapore. Grandmother (mother's side) is seated on a chair in the front row second from right (arrowed). Six years later (1933), she would conceive Mom. |
Dad in 1953. Mom's sister introduced Dad to Mom.
Dad is an amazing man. He can tell you the capitals of all the countries in the world! More about Dad here. |

Mom at Christmas Island in 1950. Mom grew up in Christmas Island (now part of Australia) before she returned to Singapore where she met Dad.
Mom was the fastest typist in the world, at least in the eyes of a little boy (that was me). More about Mom here. |
Parent's wedding in 1956. What a handsome couple. |
Sister Adeline arrived in 1957. Here she is on her first birthday in 1958.
She grew up to be a great sprinter. At a school meet of 48 schools, she came in first in the 100m dash! For her age, she was probably the fastest sprinter in Singapore. More about sister here. |
Dad, Mom and sister in 1962. What a peaceful looking family. Two years later, their peace would be shattered forever. |
Next: How their peace was shattered forever.... |

Mom and one year old sister in 1958. Alexandra, Singapore. In the background is the apartment building where we lived till 1974. Unfornately, the building was demolished to make way for a classy condominium. |
