The next issue of “Tails to Astonish” recalls how Captain Super Fox-Man the Mutant Cyborg Clone found out about the plan to ship supplies to an underboss in Downunda.  However, once the hero found the blimp, he was shot down the ocean where Octobot waited.  In the ocean, the Forty Fathoms Freedom Fighters came to the rescue.  When the hero reached Downunda, he tried to beat up the mechanical Wing Dingoes.  Luckily a group of freedom fighters, led by Walt Wallabee, saved the hero.  The hero was taken to a crater where a stranger lived.

Tails thinks his comic is wordy, but Athair tells him that it is fine and he must put the comic away.  Athair gets Tails to walk and tells him that he will see the secrets of the past and visions of the future.

Part 3

Athair tells Tails to listen to the Ancient Walkers.  Tails says he's too busy, and Athair says his ancestors were also busy.  They were too busy to ignore nature as they advanced in technology.  As a result, they almost failed to notice a comet that was heading towards them (to be detailed in Sonic the Hedgehog issues #34-36).  By using technology, the ancestors were able to lift Echidnapolis, creating the Floating Island and the crater that they now stand in.  Tails asks if the Floating Island could fit into the crater, but Athair says that the covenant was broken.  Athair then reveals that he knows Knuckles since his family protected the Floating Island.  After Athair explains how his son succeeded him, followed by his son, and then Knuckles, Tails realizes that Athair is Knuckles' great-grandfather.  Tails remembers his mission and starts to leave.  Athair tells Tails that the Ancient Walkers want to talk to him, but Tails refuses to talk to statues.  Suddenly the Ancient Walkers grab Tails, who realizes that they are alive.

Meanwhile, Robotnik demands to know why Crocbot has not docked with the blimp.  Crocbot says that it will contact Robotnik later and tells Wombat Stu that he can watch his friends get destroyed.  Crocbot then activates his most powerful robot:  the C.D. ROM Ram.  After slipping a CD into the robot, the C.D. ROM Ram begins to function.  As soon as the door to the fortress opens, the C.D. ROM Ram plows through the Downunda Freedom Fighters.

A story begins as the first "walker" emerges from Mobius' ooze.  Soon creatures that resemble dinosaurs marked the Saurian Age.  One day the sky turned green, and hail fell upon the creatures.  The creatures that survived saw the appearance of Chaos Emeralds.  The emeralds inspired pagan worship, advances in technology that could drive someone mad (this story will be revealed in Sonic the Hedgehog #34, 35, and 36), and destruction when in evil hands.  The Chaos Emeralds have infinite power, and only the Chosen One will gather them.  Afterwards, the "great harmony" will begin.  Athair says that it's an interesting story, and Tails regains his mind.  Tails realizes that the Ancient Walkers were speaking through him, and his injuries are now healed.

Suddenly Barby falls into the crater, and Tails catches her.  Barby explains that the robot butted her all the way to the crater.  Tails agrees to help her and turns to say goodbye to Athair.  Athair has disappeared, so Tails grabs Barby and flies toward the fortress.

The Downunda Freedom Fighters are getting trampled by the C.D. ROM Ram.  Walt digs deep into his pocket and removes a bomberang.  He throws the bomberang at the robot, which explodes.  Crocbot is upset but tells the blimp to dock.  The robot is instructed to be careful since rushing the docking procedure could result in an explosion.  Tails flies in through the window, and Barby kicks Crocbot.  The blimp crashes and catches fire.  Crocbot sees the blimp in flames on a monitor as Barby frees Wombat Stu.  Crocbot will not be defeated and uses its tail to hit Tails.  Soon Crocbot boards his nuclear powered Mega-Mecha Tank.  Crocbot bursts through the wall, and the freedom fighters dodge for cover.  Guru Emu asks Walt for a bomberang and then has Tails fly him towards the escaping Crocbot.  Guru throws the bomberang which makes Crocbot lose control and fall straight into the crater.  A nuclear cloud rises in the shape of Athair's head.

Later, Walt says everyone would be proud to have Tails join the Downunda Freedom Fighters.  Tails declines and says his place is at Knothole.  As Tails continues he begins to cry and say that he realizes his friends treated him the way they did because they loved him.  Now there is no way for Tails to return to Knothole.  A voice tells Tails to stop crying since the water is already salty.  Ray and Bottlenose appear and show Tails the Sea Fox.  Ray explains that his friend Brain Coral fixed the Sea Fox.  Tails gives the Downunda Freedom Fighters a high five as he flies by and leaves for Knothole.  He promises to tell both Sonic the Hedgehog and Princess Sally that other freedom fighters exist all over Mobius so that they can fight united.
