| I(F) Squadron was the first of the RAFv Frontline Harrier Units. Currently the Squadron specialises in the Close Air Support Role. 1 Sqn deploys regularly around the world, at both airbases and on aircraft carriers. Pilots fly a variety of missions and the Harrier can carry a wide range of ordnance. Often the Sqn will operate out of hides at Cottesmore and fly short missions over the battlefield. However, the Harrier may also be tasked to hit a bridge or communications building. The Sqn currently operates 5 Harrier GR7 aircraft. |
