Royal Air Force Virtual |
Flying Training Many people ask why there is a need to have flying training in a Virtual Air Force. The answer to this is that it is vital to have all pilots operating under the same procedures and rules knowing exactly what is required of them. In addition it gets everyone up to the same flying standards. This may sound harsh but if you don't want to do flying training then don't join the RAFv. As you will see, there are no fast promotions for members who have flown with other virtual units. You are promoted and judged on what you have done with this Virtual Air Force. Flying training with the RAFv is conducted in Stages progressing from Basic Flying Training on the Grob Tutor & Tucano to Advanced Flying Training on the Hawk or Jetstream aircraft. All flights are conducted online with an instructor pilot. Each flight begins with a briefing through msn messenger with the instructor explaining all details of the flight. After recruiting each member into the RAFv the pilot entrants immdiately begin Elementary Flying Training on the Grob Tutor. This initial stage of 2 hours is to test students ability rather than teach them to fly an aircraft to the standards required by the RAFv. The Grob Tutor handles well and is easy to fly providing perfect experience for new students. At this stage the instructors will be looking at ability, mainly in the Circuit and through Aerobatics. From this it will be decided through vacancies and performance of which training you will take*. Fast Jet Flying Training Multi-Engine Flying Training Rotary Wing Flying Training *The RAFv prefers to select students for roles rather than letting them choose as this stops problems such as overcrowding in one area and sparse operations in another area. However if you strongly wish to fly a different type of aircraft then you may discuss it with the Please make sure the subject of the e-mail is marked "Training" Officer Commanding Flying Training RAFv. |
