The Nimrod MR2 is used in the Maritime Role and forms part of No.3 Group RAFv. It's roles include - Maritime Surface Surveillance, Anti Submarine Warfare and Search & Rescue duties. A new version of the Nimrod, the MRA4 will see the current MR2s being refurbished and upgraded with the latest avionics and new more
efficient engines.
No.120(V) Squadron operates the Nimrod and
flies 2 examples based at RAFv Kinloss. The
RAFv aims to introduce another 2 Nimrods to
the Sqn by Early 2003.
