1884 - David Poultney, unknown Newspaper Death Notice
Source: Unknown newspaper, transcript emailed to me.
"POULTNEY - On August 6 at his residence Upper Goulburn St in the 81st year of his age, leaving a large family and circle of friends to mourn their lose. Friends are invited to attend his funeral which will leave his late residence on Sunday August 10 at 2 o’clock to Queenborough Cemetery. Melbourne and NZ papers please copy."
Note: The reference to Queenborough Cemetery is confirmed by listings from the Tasmanian State Library that show David, Ann and son Thomas James Alexander all being buried at Queenborough, possibly adjacent to each other or in the same grave. The Queenborough Cemetery no longer exists - the lower portion was converted to the Queenborough sports grounds sometime after 1916. The upper portion was closed in 1934 and was cleared of graves in 1961 when the Hutchins School moved to an adjoining site. The upper portion is today beneath the Hutchins School tennis courts.
