January 11, 2001
Dear Parents,
At the January PTA meeting,
parents and teachers reviewed the school calendar that was approved about
one year ago. At that time, the calendar included one extra day for
one national holiday for a date not known at the time the calendar was
generated.
After discussion of the possible
dates that this extra school day could be assigned, the majority of those
gathered decided to add the "free" day to the Chinese New Year's break
originally calendared for Jan.24-25, this month. Therefore, there
will be a three-day break, Jan. 24-25-26. They are now calendared
a total of 180 school days, with the last day of school June 14.
A revised annual calendar and January calendar is available for your information.
We are looking forward to input
and support from the Chinese community to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
At this moment, the date and time for a special program has not been set,
but we should know very soon. This is a special time and one that
students and their families will enjoy.
I am sorry not to be able to
report a specific date when the school bus will be repaired. I know
that parents want the bus to be safe before it is used, and the bus will
be fixed as quickly as possible. I respectfully request your patience
and your support in helping to transport students needing a ride home as
needed.
Sincerely,
Bruce Hoffman
Principal
