PAF has 2nd biggest inventory of Mirage fighters
after France itself. PAF has different versions of Mirages which are
Mirage IIIO, Mirage IIIOD, Mirage IIIE, Mirage IIIEP, Mirage IIIDP,
Mirage IIIRP, Mirage 5 PA, Mirage 5 PA-2, Mirage 5 PA-3 and Mirage 5
DPA. These all models make almost 185 in total. All Mirage V went
through the ROSE (Retrofit of Strike Element) upgrade in 1999-2000.
The upgrade greatly enhanced strike capability of the aircraft. A new
radar "Grifo-M" was also installed as part of the upgrade. Grifo-M is
just as good as AGP-88 radar installed on F-16s.
Pakistan is also looking for Mirage 2000-5 from Qatar Air Force if it
wont get it from there PAF might get it from France itself. |
