New Schedule Posted
Season Starts 7/14 (7/08/02)

The new schedule is posted and the Dragons open the latest season on Sunday 7/14 @ 8PM vs Tsunami.

Dragons Drop Playoff Opener
7-3 Loss to Fishsticks (6/30/02)

After making a valiant run to the playoffs, the Dragons dropped the opener 7-3 to Fishsticks. The loss closed a rather disappointing season for the defending champion Dragons. The key point in the game came after a bad non-call by the refs, and the Dqagons lost their composure and any chance of winning slip through their fingers in the second period.

The Dragons will return for the next season which starts after 7/10. Check the web site for the updated new schedule after 7/3.

Dragons Complete Run to Playoffs
Split 2 Weekend Games (6/23/02)

The Dragons completed a run to make the playoffs today. By beating GCR Capitals 5-1, they finish 4th in the standings and earned the right to play Fishsticks once again in the first round of the playoffs.

After losing friday to the Fishsticks (5-1), things looked bleak for the Red and White. Needing to beat the Capitals on Sunday with a skeleton crew on hand the Dragons came through with a stellar effort by everyone in attendance. With regulars Jim Gaglione, Steve Lamonica, Jim Marks, and Mike Giovino out and part timers Dennis Connors and Chris Szymula unable to fill the void the remaining Dragons lined up in a do or die game.

Doug Stewart stepped in to mind the nets and the rest of the squad played outstanding as a team. Those playing were Mike Connors, Rit Carter, Stewart, Dave Carter, Dave Spencer, Mick Pechenuk and Mike Ugliorolo. The Caps scored first in the first period but the Dragons held tight and kept up the pace in the late day heat. Tallying 3 minutes later to tie it up at 1 each. Going into the third period still tied the Dragons scored 3 times on one shift to effectively seal the game away. And then closing the scoring with an empty netter in the final minute.

With Stewart filling in over the wekend for Marks, Doug led the way for the Dragons as he no only sweat but bled Dragon red for the playoff run! Scoring twice on Sunday for the Dragons was Mick Pechenuk and added an assist as well. Dave Spencer also tallied two points for the Dragons. Stewart showed his versatility and importance to the team an he added an assist from the nets.

Up next for the Dragons is Fishsticks and their high powered offense on Sunday June 30th at 5PM.

Registration Underway for Next Season
Management Needs Confirmations and Deposit $ (6/20/02)

In case anyone has failed to notice, registration is underway for the next season. Deposit money is due in by the 28th of June. I have confirmed with most everyone their status for next season but still require a couple of guys to get back to me. I'd like this cleared up by our next game (6/21 8PM Fishsticks) so that the roster can be set. There is a roster already set up so please think about putting a $20 (or more if you can) down before time runs out and we lose our spot. Thanks

Dragons Drop Game Late
Lose 3-2 in last minute (6/16/02)

The Dragons lost their 4th game of the season Sunday to Team Arctic. Despite a 2-1 lead with 1:25 to go, they managed to let one slip throught their fingers. In a game that saw return of winger Jim Gaglione to the Dek after knee surgery. The Draogns did manage to hit at least 3 posts and a crossbar in the Fathers' Day affair. Steve Lamonica scored both the Dragon goals with an assist going to Dave Spencer.

An unamed Dragon player has been slighted yet again as he was not credited with an assist on one the Lamonica goals. This Dragon forward cited many examples of being slighted by rink and team officials as evidence of a scandal that runs as deep as the Watergate breakin. Team officials had no comment when approached on the matter. And rink officials state that their statisticians are above reproach when it comes to the official team stats.

Forfeit Win Over B&W
Management Informed Late Thursday (6/14/02)

Team Management was informed late last night that B&W is forfeiting their game to the Dragons. This now gives the Dragons a 4-3-2 (10 points) record. Those choosing may still go down to the rink to work out. Next game is Sunday 6/16 5PM vs Team Arctic.

Team Junk Shuts out Dragons
Dragons Outmatched in Loss (6/02/02)

After their most complete game of the season, the Dragons returned to action after a 2 week layoff to stink up the rink Sunday afternoon. Team Junk outplayed the Dragons and the Dragons could mount little if any offense against them. Final tally was 4-0 loss for the Dragons. Up next for the Dragons is B&W on Friday 6/14 2 8PM.

Dragons Whitewash B&W
8-0 Win in most complete game of Season (5/19/02)

The Dragons shutout B&W tonight 8-0. Getting goals from 6 different players and all 10 skaters scored at least 1 point. Leading the scoring was Mike Giovino (2-2-4) and Dennis Connors (1-4-5). The Dragons are now off for two full weeks, returning to action on June 2nd at 5PM against Team Junk.

Wolfpack Ties Dragons
Outshoot Dragons 43-17 (5/17/02)

The Wolfpack managed a 1-1 tie with the Dragons despite a 43-17 advantage in shots. With the Dragons scoring first in the first period they held on until the thirdperiod when the Wolfpack tied it up with about 5 minutes to go. Mike Connors managed the lone Dragon tally with assists from the other half of the East Hartford Mafia (Dennis Connors) and Steve Lamonica. Dragons are next up Sunday May 19 against B&W at 8PM.

Gaglione Requires Surgery
Knee Injury More Severe Than Originally Thought (5/15/02)

Dragons management announced today that winger Jim Gaglione is going to require surgery to repair his knee injured sustained a week ago. This puts Jim on the shelf for at least 4 four weeks. Dragons medical staff expect a full recovery. The MRI showed a tear to the meniscus, which will require arthroscopic surgery to repair. Surgery is scheduled in a couple of weeks with rehab for a couple more and maybe with any luck the doctors will have him back out on the Dek for the playoffs. Management wishes Jim a speedy recovery.

With this injury Jim now takes the "Team Lead" in most severe injury sustained while a member of the Dragons. Edging out once again Dennis Connors (broken wrist, broken finger) and Rit Carter (separated shoulder) for that dubious honor.

Dragons Stage Mothers' Day Comeback
Down 4-0, Win 6-4 (5/12/02)

For a period and a half it looked like only one team showed up to the game sunday, the wrong one! But the Dragons staged an incredible comeback, by coming from a 4-0 deficit to win 6-4 over the previously unbeaten Wolfpack. Led by 2 goals and three points from Steve Lamonica and three points from Defenseman Dave Spencer the Dragons scored 6 unanswered goals in the final 15 minutes. Taking only 3 shots (if that many) in the first period to Wolpack's 17, the Dragons seemed destined to be blown out of the building until scoring 5 goals in the 2nd period. The Dragons are up next on Friday May 17 against the same Wolfpack team at 8PM.

Capitals tie Dragons
2-2 in OT (5/5/02)

The Capitals tied the Draogns last night 2-2 in OT. Despite outplaying the Caps for much of the game the Draogns could not muster enough shots on net to really test the opposition netminder. Scoring for the Dragons were Mick Pechenuk and breaking a two year scoring drought Rit Carter. Dragons are up next weekend against Wolfpack 5/12 7PM.

Dragons Record First Win
4-2 Over Team Arctic (4/28/02)

The Dragons broke into the Win column last night with a solid effort over Team Arctic. The final score was only marred by a last nanosecond goal by the opponent to make it 4-2. The Draons were led by Doug Stewart's 4-point explosion and 3 points from Jim Gaglione. Mike Connors chipped in with two points as well. Up next for the Dragons is the 2-1 GCR Capitals Sunday 5/5 @7PM.

Dragons Fall to 0-2
Lose 4-3 OT Thriller (4/20/02)

Falling to 0-2 on the young season, The Dragons dropped their second game in as many contests tonight. Goals were scored by Jim Gaglione, Dave "How did that ever go in?" Spencer, and Mick "Chalkboard" Pechenuk. The Dragons are up next Sunday 4/28 against Team Arctic at 7PM.

Dragons Drop Season Opener
Lose 3-2 in Lid Lifter (4/15/02)

The Dragons dropped the season opener to Team Junk Sunday afternoon. Despite outshooting Junk 33-20 the Dragons could not put enough in the net to pull out the W. Scoring twice for the Dragons was Mike Giovino. The Dragons are up next Friday 4/19 against Fishsticks at 10PM.

Dragons Additions
New Players for this Season (4/15/02)

The Dragons announce that they have coaxed out of retirement longtime player and Assistant Captain Rit Carter. Carter rejoins the squad after a two year layoff. Also joining the Dragons this season is new goalie Jim Marks, Management hears that it was the announcement of Marks that finally was able to get Carter out of retirement.

Missing Dragons
Burr and Higgins Leave (4/15/02)

Dragons Management wish to send out a fond farewell to two longtime Dragons who have opted out of their contracts due to other commitments. Keith Burr and Kathy Higgins have left the team this season due to the Zoo reforming in the E Division. Their absence will leave a void not easily replaced. We wish them well and good luck in the future. They always have a place on the squad.

DRAGONS WIN!
Win Winter 2002 F Dek Championship (4/12/02)

The Dragons tonight won the Winter 2002 F Dek Championship with a rousing 7-3 routing of Tsunami. Led by MVP Mike Connors' 2 goals, the Dragons completely dominated Tsunami from the second period on. In a game in which Arena officials anticpated a close overtime game, the Dragons routed the #1 seed in the third an deciding contest.

Also scoring tonight were Jim Gaglione, Dennis Connors, Steve Lamonica, Mike G. and Keith Burr. In an Emmy Award like snubbing, once again Dennis Connors was robbed of the MVP Award, this time by his very own brother.

The Dragons have now won their second Championship in three seasons. While roster changes are inevitable, they see Kathy Higgins and Keith Burr leave the team after many seasons. Management wishes them well and good luck as the Zoo has resureccted itself like the Pheonix in the E division.

Captain Dave Carter was quoted later "after waiting for so long to even win one championship, to win two in three seasons is just incredible."

Team management also wishes to recognize another champioship by Dennis Connors and his E.H. Blades team in the D Roller Division. And wish them good luck in their move to the Glastonbury rink.
