Dragons Take Deciding Game
Gaglione Leads the Way (9/27/02)

Bolstered by the sudden appearance of Goalie Jim Marks, the Dragons took their 3rd Championship Trophy home tonight with a 6-3 Win over Team Arctic. MVP Jim Gaglione led the scoring for the Dragons with 4 of the 6 tallies. Also Scoring tonight the blanc et rouge were "Hitman" Dennis Connors, and the Schmoo, Chris Szymula.

After falling behind in the first minute 1-0, the Dragons scored their first goal with 4 seconds lef tin the first period. Team Arctic battled all night but had no answer for Gaglione as he continued to find open spots on the deck for shots. Despite the 4 goals the vote for MVP was EXTREMLY close but Jim just edged out the Hitman when one ballot came back without even listing Dennis on it!

Goalie Jim Marks again was stellar in net for the Dragons as he even forsook (forsaked) the McCartney concert to be in the house!

Capping the best season EVER in Dragons history was the win tonight, everyone right down the line played outstanding in the victory. Team management was especially elateed when the brother's Carter won their first Trophy together. Rit was quoted after saying "I told you I'd get you a Championship!". Thanks Rit!

This season was especially sweet as the Team learned tonight that winger Gaglione was leaving the team for a season to take care of a bum shoulder. "If he continues to play like this with a bad shoulder what's he gonna do when he returns with a healthy one" Capt. Dave Carter was overheard to say after the win.

"I cannot think of a better group to share this season with, we played with class and dignity all season. Three Championships in five seasons is outstanding!" Thanks guys!

The next season starts right up on Wednesday October 2nd at 8PM.

Series Tied, Game 3 Tonight
2-0 Loss Froces Deciding Game (9/27/02)

The Dragons dropped Game 2 of the Championship Series to Team Arctic, 2-0 last night. Team Arctic scored late in the second period to break a 0-0 tie and the Dragons never could find the offensive push needed to get on the board. The Dragons did miss several opportunities during the contest but could not find a way to beat the opposition's net minder.

The deciding Game 3 is tonight at 10PM.

Dragons Moving to "E" Division
After 6 Seasons in "F" (9/26/02)

After spending the last six seasons in the F Division the Dragons have moved up to E. Their 1st Place finish this past season ensured the move. What will this Division hold in store for the White and Red, will they only spend one season in E? All these questions and more will be ansewred in the coming two months. The New Schedules are out and will posted to the web site as soon as the current Playoffs are completed.

Led by Goalie Jim Marks (22 Shots 20 Saves) and Doug Stewart (1g 1a) the Dragons beat Team Arctic 3-2 in Game 1 of the F Division Finals. Also scoring tonight for the Dragons was the East Hartford Mafia duo of Mike And Dennis Connors. Rounding out the scoring for the Dragons was Chris Szymula with a single helper on Stewart's tally.

Team Acrtic gained the Finals by beating the Slugs 5-2 in a semi-final game on Sunday. This was the fourth 1 goal game played by these two teams this season all victories by the Dragons.

Up next for the Dragons is Game 2 against Team Arctic Thursday at 7PM.

3-2 Victory Over Tsunami (9/22/02)

Led by Dennis Connors (1 Goal - 1 Assist) and Rit Carter (2 Assists) the Dragons beat Tsunami in their first round playoff game. Scoring the game winner was Steve Lamonica with just over 2 minutes to play.

Up next for the Dragons is unknown but the game is Tuesday 9/24 at 10PM. Probable opponent is Team Arctic who held a 3-1 lead after 1 period in their semi-final game against the Slugs.

Close with a 4-0 Loss
Listless effort against Slugs (9/16/02)

Playing what might have been their worst game all season, the Dragons closed out the regular season with a 4-0 loss to the Slugs. Was this a wakeup call for the Dragons? Only the playoffs will tell for certain, with Tsunami up in the first round next Sunday @ 7PM (9/22). Playing well despite the loss were Mike U and goalie Jim Marks (2gaa & 2 empty netters).

Connors Takes First Dragon Invitational
Dennis Wins by 7 Strokes (9/14/02)

Playing directly behind girls from the Girls Gone Wild! video series, Dennis Connors won the first ever Dragons Invitational held at Tunxis Plantation. Playing in the only foursome to make it to the course was Dave Carter, Dennis Connors, Chris Szymula and Mark Albert. Teeing first off at 11:35 this morning, Dave Carter opened the Invitational with a SWEET drive down the left side of the fairway on #1 of the Green course. Just totally putting out of his mind all day, Dennis had arguably two of the top three puts of the day only to be denied the sweep by Mark who sank a 25 footer on the 15th hole. AND Dennis chipped in from 30 feet from the fringe for the day's ONLY birdie, he was just money all afternoon!

Dragons management has been quoted to say that next year's Invitational (if there is indeed one) could prove far more interesting than the 2002 Event!

Being distracted by the video stars, the scores went a little higher than all used to but who could blame us! Woe is the Dragon that did not make the Invitational. There's always next year?

Scores the Dragon Invitational were:

  • Dennis Connors 100
  • Dave Carter 107
  • Mark Albert 108
  • Chris Szymula 110
  • Pictures from today's gala and exciting event are coming soon. So watch this page for them.

    Old Story, Same Result
Another One Goal, OT Game (8/19/02)

The Dragons this season are making the close, tight game seem ordinary as they played their 4th overtime game of the season (3-0-1) in a 3-2 OT win over Team Arctic. They have now played 10 games and nine of them have been decided by one goal or less (the tenth being a two goal game).

Making it seem like they drew the play up on a chalkboard as overtime began. Mike Connors wins the opening faceoff of overtime back to Dave Carter. Carter then passes off the helmet of left winger Doug Stewart. Stewart chases down the ball and takes not one, not two but three shots on net. The third shot (the worst angle of all of the shots) manages to go in for the Dragons victory.

Stewart led the scoring with 2 goals and "East Hartford Mafia Hitman" Dennis Connors scored the third goal for the Dragons now 8-1-1 on the season.

While he did not make a dent in the scoring list, it should be noted the defenseman Mike Ugliorolo played an exceptional game on D last night. A number of times he came up big to keep a ball in the offensive end for the Dragons. Constantly frustrating the Arctic forwards and stopping or at least delaying odd man rushes most of the night.

Up next for the Dragons is Team Junk in two weeks on Sunday September 8th at 8PM.

    Unbeaten Streak Ends
    Split Weekend Games (8/19/02)

The Dragons 8 game unbeaten streak came to a halt Sunday night with a 2-1 loss to Tsunami. After a big win against Team Arctic on Saturday (3-2), the Dragons played in a funk on Sunday. Scoring in Saturday's win were: Mike Connors, Doug Stewart and Jim (Mr. 100) Gaglione. The lone goal on Sunday was scored by The East Hartford Mafia's Dennis Connors.

Management wants to congratulate Jim Gaglione for scoring his 100th career goal as a Dragon. The first Dragon to reach such lofty heights. Congrats Jim!

Up next for the Dragons is Team Arctic for the third time on Sunday August 25th at 6PM.

    Close One Again
Survive Scare from The Slugs (8/11/02)

The Dragons tonight survived a scare from winless Slugs 4-3. Taking a 4-0 lead midway into the 2nd period the Draogns held on for a 4-3 win. Leading the scoring was Doug Stewart with 2 goals and Rit Carter with 3 assists. The Dragons are making close games seem commonplace this season with 6 of 7 games being of the one goal or less variety and all of them a 2 goal or less difference. This now leaves the Dragons at 6-0-1 for the season.

Up next for the Dragons is Team Arctic on Saturday 8/17 @ 10PM.

    Dragons Last Minute Victory
    Gaglione Leads The Way (8/10/02)

Jim Gaglione scored twice and Mike Connors scored the game winner with :57 left in the third to lead the Dragons to another last minute win. This is the fourth time this season the Dragons have scored in either overtime or the last minute to win a game. With this win the Drqagons are now 5-0-1, team historians had to go back 10 seaons to find a start that compares to this one.

Up next for the Dragons is the Slugs on Sunday 8/11 @ 6PM.

    Golf Outing Poll
    First Annual Dragon Classic? (8/7/02)

Team management is looking to see how many would be interested in playing in the First Dragon Classic Golf Tourney. The date is yet to be determined, we are just looking to see if there is enough interest to hold such an event first. Management is also looking for a host for the after party once the "golfing" is completed.

Please respond if you are interested to [email protected]. Thank you.

    Tie with Team Junk
Outshoot TJ 46-18 in 0-0 OT Tie (7/28/02)

In game which the defense was key, the Dragons and Team Junk tied Sunday 0-0. Despite outshooting their opponent 46-18, the Dragons could not put one home.

    Streaking Dragons Win Again
    Take out Wolfpack 3-1 (7/28/02)

Led by Mike Connors and Doug Stewart, the Dragons won their 4th straight game last evening over the Wolfpack 3-1. Seemingly in control after the opening two minutes the Dragons tallied first on a goal by Stewart. Connors closed the scoring with a slap shot from the right side in the third period.

Next up for the Dragons is Team Junk next Sunday (8/4) @ 6PM.

    OT Win (Yet Again)
Dragons Making Habit of Late Heorics (7/27/02)

(REUTERS)(Plainville) The Dragons again managed to steal victory from the jaws of defeat Saturday night. Stealing a 5-4 OT win against rival Tsunami. Led by 4 goals by super-sub Dennis Connors the Dragons stayed undefeated in this current season. In what has been described as "Eddie Shore hockey", these Dragons were relentless in their pursuit of victory. (Many reporters contributed to this article).

The Dragons now 3-0 face the Wolfpack for the first time tonight (7/28) @ 7PM.

    Last Seond Win
Gaglione Scores with :12 Left to Win (7/22/02)

The Dragons continued their last second heorics on Sunday as Jim Gaglione scored with just twelve ticks left on the clock to beat Team Arctic 5-4. In a game that see-sawed back and forth the Dragons pulled another one out of the fire. The Dragons were paced by Doug Stewart (2-0-2) and Steve Lamonica (2-0-2) and makeshift centerman Dave Spencer (0-2-2). After allowing the tying goal with :27 seconds left, Gaglione went top-shelf for the game winner after the Dragons controlled the ensuing faceoff.

The next games for the Dragons are slated for Saturday 7/27 at 7pm against Tsunami and Sunday 7/28 against Wolfpack also @ 7PM.

    Comeback Win in Overtime
2 Goals in 12 seconds Caps 4-3 OT Win (7/15/02)
