Danielle's "Just Breathe" Ball Gown

Costume Description
Antique white satin gown. Highly aged so true color is hard to determine - in pictures it looks more gold/cream while in person it was more silver/cream. Floor length, overskirt is trained. One piece with movie ‘cheats.’ Empire waist. Deep ‘V’ neckline of cream/antique satin, decorated with small pearls and rhinestones metallic seed beads. Insert of same satin, encrusted with more pearls and rhinestones seed beads as well as silver bullion and aged lace. The front 'leaf' design is further embellished with marquis cut rhinestones with gold settings. Semi-sheer ‘chemise’ gathered to sleeve cap and ‘poof’ where sheer gauntlets do not cover. Gauntlets also trimmed in lace and beaded, tie to each other at elbow and then to sleeve cap with metallic cording. Split overskirt of two types of gauzy crinkled fabric (silk? satin?) serged together into panels, box pleated in back. Bias cut underskirt of antique satin that features french knots at hem. Worn with large sheer ‘wings’ and jewel encrusted silver mules.

From the Fashion In Film pictures, we can see that there is actually a drawstring casing on the top inside of the bodice. This was probably used to keep the dress in the proper place. It's also possible that a drawstring runs along the empire waist seam for additional security. The bodice is lined with cream-colored silk, probably the same silk that was used in the underskirt. This costume is also worn with a corset, which helps support the weight of the wings. See picture #13 below especially.

Historical Reference
Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some. Here are a few historical references with similar elements to Danielle's "Just Breathe" Ball Gown:

Left to Right:
Sketch of A Venetian Woman by Albrecht Durer, 1495
Nuremberg and Venetian Women by Albrecht Durer (and detail)
Die Hl. Katharina by Albrecht Durer
