Danielle's Wine Velvet Ruins Gown
Costume Description
Wine/cranberry velvet colored floor length gown. Laces in back. One piece with movie ‘cheats’ - see picture #6. White crinkle-sheer ‘chemise’ gather at sleeve cap, then twice more near wrist with maroon rope cording. Low empire waist (no darts), trimmed with gold braid. Deep scoop-square neckline. Gauntlets of same velvet as dress, tie at shoulder with maroon rope cording. Unusual ‘poof’ shape, trimmed in middle with two rows of gold cord as well as at top and bottom hem. Worn with pearl-encrusted white snood and matching maroon shoes with a low heel (picture #1). Possibly worn with a corset or underbodice of some sort - see a peek of white at the neckline in picture #5.

Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some.
