![]() Belgium While technically I have been to Belgium, my time there solely consisted of changing trains at the Brussels Train station on my way to Amsterdam, thus I'm not in much of a position to offer advice. Essential facts The national languages are Flemish (basically Dutch), French, and German. If you can't speak any of those, most people speak English too. As Brussels is the headquarters of the European Union (E.U.) There are plenty of Eurocrats running around speaking a plethora of languages. The currency is the Franc, worth about 40 to the USD, though soon to be replaced by the Euro. I can comment on this - it's easy. Sabena, the national airline has numerous flights around the world, often with deals to be had. Trains to virtually any other part of Europe are available as well - either direct or connecting somewhere in-between.
