AMAZONA AUTUMNALIS DIADEMA: North West Brazil between Rio Negro and upper Amazonas.
Lowlands up to 700 m; humid tropical forest.
Length: 35 cm. AMAZONA AUTUMNALIS DIADEMA somewhat larger.
Fruits, nuts and berries, also blossoms and leaf-buds collected in the top of the trees.
Plumage general green; forehead and lores red, upper cheeks and ear-coverts yellow. Crown and nape tinged with lilac-blue. Secondary flight feathers with red patch. AMAZONA AUTUMNALIS SALVINI without yellow cheeks. AMAZONA AUTUMNALIS LILACINA the red of forehead and lores extends along eyes and ears. AMAZONA AUTUMNALIS DIADEMA has crimson forehead turning to deep red at the lores. Bill horn-colored. Legs fleshy-grey. Iris orange.
