| About the Club--- The Grob Chess Club is a small organization that will hold tournaments in Elkhart, Indiana. We will soon be a registered affiliate of the United States Chess Federation. Founded in 2007 by Gerald (G.Rob) Roberts, the Grob Chess Club will work to promote chess in the schools and as a whole. |
| About the Founder--- Gerald Roberts is a certified tournament director and an active tournament player. He learned how the pieces move just in 2005, but has already beaten several players rated over 1700, including some Class A players. For the 2006-2007 school year, he helped coach the Eastwood Elementary School Chess Team, as well as the Goshen Middle School Chess Team. In the fall of 2007, Gerald will begin study at University of Texas at Dallas. Within the next few years, he hopes to hold a rapid transit tournament that can be made into a television program.
